Brighter Vision Ahead: Recheo Health Foundation Extends Eye Care to Older Adults

Good vision is essential to living a healthy, independent and fulfilling life, particularly as people grow older. Yet, many older adults experience preventable or treatable vision problems without access to regular eye care. Recognising this need, Recheo Health Foundation organised a free eye screening and vision care outreach for 100 older adults aged 50 and above in August 2026 as part of its 50/5 Years of Grace celebration.

The initiative aimed to improve access to essential eye care services and promote the well-being of older adults in the community. Through the outreach, beneficiaries received eye screening and consultations, free eyeglasses for eligible individuals, as well as health education and counselling on the importance of maintaining healthy vision and seeking timely eye care.

Beyond the medical services provided, the outreach created an opportunity for older adults to better understand their eye health, identify potential vision problems and receive guidance on protecting their sight. For many people in this age group, access to appropriate eye care can make a meaningful difference in their ability to carry out everyday activities, maintain their independence and enjoy a better quality of life.

The programme reflects Recheo Health Foundation’s continued commitment to making healthcare more accessible to vulnerable populations, particularly older adults who may face barriers to essential health services. By bringing eye care closer to the community, the Foundation reaffirmed the importance of preventive healthcare, early intervention and community-based support in improving people's lives.

As the Foundation celebrated its 50/5 Years of Grace milestone, the outreach served as a practical expression of its commitment to giving hope, showing compassion and creating positive change. It was a reminder that meaningful celebrations go beyond marking achievements; they also provide opportunities to extend care, serve communities and make a lasting difference in people's lives.

Through initiatives like this, Recheo Health Foundation continues to champion accessible healthcare and promote healthier, more dignified lives for older adults. Because brighter vision means more than seeing clearly; it means preserving independence, restoring confidence and helping people live life to the fullest.
